IEDR Resellers - A
These are the hosters listed on IEDR's site as Table A Resellers. The IEDR criteria for being Table A reseller is that the hoster has more than 500 .ie domains under its control (as billing contact (BILLING-C). A hoster may have control over more domains than are listed on its nameservers. Not all domains listed on a hoster's nameservers may be active. This is often the case with smaller hosters.
Eircom.net

EIRCOM.NET is the largest Irish ISP. Before it was floated on the stockmarket, when it was trading as Telecom Eireann, it launched its own ISP Tinet.ie. Shortly after that, it acquired another Irish ISP (Indigo.ie) in a numbers deal. The brands were kept separate for a few years but eventually all of INDIGO.IE's domains were shifted on to EIRCOM.NET's nameservers.
The rise of the second generation hosters, the Hoster Service Providers has hit EIRCOM.NET hard. It lost its market leader position to HOSTING365.IE but is mounting a strong defence. It is one of the largest .ie ccTLD hosters.

BT Ireland

ESAT.NET is the brand of BT Ireland. It is a conglomeration of ISPs and hosters. Consisting of Ireland Online (IOL.IE) Ireland's first real ISP, ESAT.NET, HOMENET.IE and ISI.IE, the ISP seems to be concentrating more on the high end hosting clients. Unable to beat the second generation HSPs, ESAT.NET has had a hard time competing in the retail end of the hosting market.
Much of ESAT.NET's growth has been from consolidation of IOL.IE, HOMENET.IE and ISI.IE clients on to the ESAT.NET's nameservers though it continues to acquire new retail and high end customers.

A UK company selling into the Irish market, SWITCHMEDIA.CO.UK recently formed an Irish company to market more effectively to the Irish market. It has grown considerably in the last year and made it into IEDR's Class A resellers list. It apparently uses CRO data on new businesses to target potential clients using direct marketing techniques. WhoisIreland.com recommends that any Irish potential domain registrant considers hosting on a real Irish hoster using Irish IP space due to Irish hosted websites being included in Google's "pages from Ireland".
